“The Lost Tomb of Jesus” - Does It fit The Very Definition of Oxymoron?

Webster's says an oxymoron is “a combination of contradictory or incongruous words.” An example would be, it was so hot, it was cold. I would contend that it would also include using the Bible as reliable evidence in order to prove the Bible is unreliable. Either the Bible is reliable or it is unreliable, it can't be both. The makers of the documentary “The Lost Tomb of Jesus” rely very heavily on the Bible to support their claims that they have found the lost tomb of Jesus and his family. Yet, if you follow their theory to its logical end, in order to accept their theory as correct, you must accept the Bible as unreliable. This is an oxymoron, you can't have it both ways. Either the Bible is reliable or it is unreliable, it can't be both.

The documentary was produced by Oscar winning director James Cameron. Its director was Symcha Jacobovici and one of its lead consultants was University of North Carolina scholar James Tabor. The documentary aired on the Discovery channel on March 4, 2007. The documentary suggests that the remains found in a tomb in 1980 are that of Jesus and his family. This is based on ten bone boxes that were found in the tomb. These boxes are known as Ossuaries. The Ossuaries bore crudely etched names. Some of names include: Jesus, son of Joseph; Maria; Mariamene e Mara; Matthew; Judas, son of Jesus; and Jose.

The documentary suggests that Jesus, son of Joseph was Jesus Christ. Maria was his mother Mary. Mariamene e Mara was Mary Magdalen, the wife of Jesus and Judus was their son. Jose was the brother of Jesus. One Ossuary was misplaced or stolen. The documentary suggests that a Ossuary that surfaced from a private collection in 2002 is the lost Ossuary from the collection. This Ossuary bears the name James, the master. The documentary suggests that this is James, the brother of Jesus.

Except for the name “Mariamene,” all the names were common during the time of Jesus. James Tabor contends that a second century manuscript uses the name “Mariamene” for Mary Magdalen. Now Jesus didn't have a brother named Jose. His brother was named Joses. These names are spelled very similar but they are not the same and they do not have the same meaning.

The documentary relies on one speculation on top of another. They present much scientific evidence but this evidence does not lead to any conclusions. If you are interested in some of this evidence and what other experts have said about it, see the article that appeared in TIME magazine.

The point I would like to make is that the Bible is clear what happened to Jesus. He rose from the dead. It was not the resurrection of a spirit. His whole body rose from the dead on the third day just as he said he would. King David prophesied, “neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption” (Psalms 16:6). And the body of Jesus did not see corruption; it did not decay because he rose from the dead. The tomb was empty. He told Thomas to touch him and see that his body was real. When his ministry was finished, he ascended into heaven. He is alive today. There was nothing to bury in a tomb.

The members of Jesus own family, the Apostles and all his disciples testified to his resurrection. All the Apostles except John were martyred for their faith. They went to their death testifying to the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Bible says: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16). I believe this to be true. You must make your own choice. But you cannot believe it to be true and not true. Either it is reliable or it is unreliable. Many have come to an opinion on the Bible without ever reading it. How can you come to the most important decision in your life without checking it out for yourself?

Many have come to their own conclusion on the reliability of the Bible and have based their decision on false teachings. There are many deceivers in the world today. There are many who proclaim to teach the word of God but they mix in lies. We can only identify these lies and teachers of lies after we have studied the word for ourselves. I believe that we all need to study the word of God for ourselves. We cannot rely on others to tell us what it says. If we rely on others, we are setting ourselves up to believe a “strong delusion.” The Bible is clear that their will be many claiming to be believers who will actually be deceivers. Don't be deceived, study and learn the truth of God's word! Begin today!

When you study the Bible it must be done with prayer. The Apostle Paul writes: “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he knowthem, because they are spiritually discerned. " (1 Corinthians 2:14)  When we pray, we must pray for the Holy Spirit to give us understanding. Jesus made the following promise concerning the Holy Spirit:  “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: ” (John 16:13) Take Jesus at his word and trust him, you won't be disapointed.

The Tomb of Jesus – A Strong Delusion In Fulfillment of Bible Prophecy

Almost everyone in America knows the story of Jesus. The fact that he was crucified and that the Bible says he rose from the dead. It is not a matter of debate that Jesus lived. It is well accepted around the world and among most religions that he was a good man who did miracles. It is a historical fact that he was crucified. No body debates this. What is debated is whether Jesus rose from the dead. Does the recent discovery of a tomb which is claimed to contain the body of Jesus and his family discredit the biblical account. I think not. Rather, I think it confirms the conspiracy that the Bible says existed to discredit the resurrection of Jesus. It is also a fulfillment of Bible Prophecy.

On March 4, 2007, the discovery Channel aired a documentary by director James Cameron. The documentary revealed that a family tomb had been discovered in Jerusalem. This was a very unique tomb because it held the body of Jesus and his family. The documentary claimed that this was the tomb of the Jesus depicted in the Bible.

The name Jesus is not unique. It is the Greek equivalent of the name Joshua which means “Jehova is Salvation.” Joshua was the famous captain of the Israelites; he succeeded Moses to lead Israel. Others in the Bible had the name of Jesus including Barabbas. The prisoner released instead of Jesus Christ. Strong's Lexicon records that his first name was Jesus. It is totally possible that the family tomb of Jesus was of some unknown man but I believe it is more likely part of an ancient conspiracy. This conspiracy originated with the Jewish leaders and it sought to conceal the true identity of Jesus the Christ, the son of God.

The conspiracy against Jesus began during his ministry. The chief priests, scribes, Pharisees and elders conspired to kill him. When Jesus was brought to judgment, they brought false witnesses to testify against him. But these witnesses contradicted one and other. Although the Roman governor Pontius Pilate sentenced Jesus to death, he found no fault in him. Pilate tried to get the people to release Jesus. It was the custom to release a prisoner for the Passover but the crowd chose a notorious criminal named Barabbas instead of Jesus. This was as God had planned for Jesus had to die in order to pay the price for our sins.

The day after the death of Jesus the chief priests and Pharisees went to Pilate and asked him to seal the tomb of Jesus and to install a guard. A Centurion and his company of 100 men were sent to seal and guard the tomb of Jesus. The gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John record that Jesus rose from his tomb on the morning of the third day. The disciples could not have perpetuated any hoax with 100 Roman soldiers standing guard.

Mathew records that some of the soldiers went to the chief priests and explained that Jesus had risen from the dead. The chief priests conspired with the soldiers and paid them a large sum of money to lie about what had happened to Pilate. Matthew records: “Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. And if this come to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.” (Matthew 28:11-15)

The Conspiracy among the Jewish leaders did not stop here as Dr. Philip Moore extensively covers in his book “The End Of History Messiah Conspiracy.” The Jewish leaders went to great lengths to hide the fact that Jesus was in deed the Messiah and had risen from the dead. Dr. Moore documents that they even went as far as to change their teaching concerning the Messiah in order to conceal the fact that Jesus was indeed the Messiah.

The book of Acts contains the wise counsel of a Jewish leader. Peter and other disciples of Jesus were teaching in the name of Jesus and were imprisoned. During the night angels freed them and they returned to the temple to teach. The leaders were astonished when they found they were not in prison and ordered them to be arrested again. When Peter and the others were brought before the leaders they refused to obey the leaders and said that they would obey God instead. The leaders had mind to kill them but a wise man stood up to speak. Acts 5:35-38 records what the man said:

“Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space; And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men. For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought. After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed. And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:”

What was the result of the works of the Apostles? Does it appear to be the works of men or does it appear to be the work of God? We do not find any evidence that any of the Apostles or the disciples ever recanted of their belief that Jesus rose from the dead. Although they were persecuted, imprisoned, tortured and slain, none of them ever recanted their belief that Jesus the Christ rose from the dead. All the Apostles except for John were martyred for their faith. Yet, they all remained faithful until the end.

Nathaniel died a martyrs death. Simon, James (the Lesser), Andrew and Peter were martyred by crucifiction. Thaddaeus was martyred by being shot with arrows. Matthew and James(the Elder) were martyred by the sword. Phillip was martyred by hanging. Thomas was martyred by the spear. John died in exile. None of these men recanted the fact that Jesus had risen from the dead. Not one changed his testimony to save his life.

Men will die for a lie that they believe to be true but they will not die for a lie that they know is a lie. The preservation of life is a very strong motivator. In order to save their own life men will admit their crimes, they will become witnesses against their friends and cohorts, they will profess a lie, they will do all sorts of evil. Sometimes men will die to protect their friends or family but die to protect a lie they will not do.

The Apostles and other disciples of Jesus never recanted. The teachings of Jesus prospered, they did not come to nought. Those who were divided were the leaders of the Jews. The Bible records that many of the Pharisees became believers. Chief among these was Paul who originally went by the name of Saul. Saul was a high ranking Pharisee and a persecutor of Christians. He was even involved in the killing of Christians but he left the ranks of the Jewish conspiracy and came to believe that Jesus was the Messiah and that he had risen from the dead.

Paul went on to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the gentiles and to write over half the New Testament. Paul prophesied that in the last days there would be “strong delusion” that would lead many wicked men to “believe a lie” and reject the Gospel of Christ. As a result, these men would be damned to everlasting death. (2 Thessalonians 2:3-12) This lie about the tomb of Jesus is a strong delusion and it is only one of many strong delusions to come.

Most of America is familiar with the sex scandals surrounding President Clinton, Representative Barney Frank, Representative Dan Crane, Representative Gerry Studds and now Representative Mark Foley. But there is a even more sinister and serious problem in Washington and among leaders throughout the country. This sinister problem seems not to have been seriously investigated for years. The problem involves pedophilia sex parties, child kidnapping, child sex slaves, pornography, blackmail, murder, cover-ups, and impeded investigations.

“In another case Jim had an informant who’s house was allegedly used by U.S. intelligence to compromise some people with three little boys. If case your new to the grossly evil an depraved tactics of U.S. intelligence, little boys or girls are sometimes used to compromise people by filming them with hidden cameras while they have sex with the boys or girls. In this case boys ended up being murdered, allegedly by the intelligence officers. Jim served a subpoena on his informant to appear before the New York City Select Committee on Crime. By the time Jim arrived back at his office someone had already “squashed” the subpoena. Who ever it was, they had enough power not only to squash the subpoena but to keep Jim from finding out who had done it. I think it goes without saying that these two cases suggest government involvement at very high levels either willingly or coercively.”

The Omaha child sex ring was run by Larry King (no association with the radio talk show host) a Nebraska businessman and Republican rising star. The sex ring was uncovered in a 1988 FBI investigation of King's theft of $40 million from the Franklin Credit Union, which he managed. He flew children to Washington DC where he allegedly conducted sex parties which Congressman attended. The Presidential Limousines was said to have been parked outside his condo during at least one of these parties and one of the children gave accurate details of rooms inside the White House not open to the public.

The alleged Finders international child-kidnapping ring was exposed when “an informant had advised the Tallahassee police that the Finders was an occult organization involved in “blood rituals,” “sexual orgies involving children,” and an unsolved murder.” The investigation eventually led to the CIA. An investigation by the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department and U.S. Customs was halted. The CIA is to alleged to have advised these agencies that the investigation was an internal matter. Former CIA agent, Ted Gunderson said that his investigation showed that finders was a covert CIA operation that began in the 1960s.

McMartin Preschool sex-abuse trial involved the owners of a preschool in California where the owners were alleged to have sexually abused the preschool children in tunnels underneath the school. The children also reported satanic ceremonies and trips to a mortuary and a satanic ritual site in the hills.389 potential victims were interviewed and examined. 80% showed physical signs of sexual abuse and the majority had memories of abuse and satanic rituals.

Ted led an independent investigation that unearthed the tunnels. The children were able to give directions to the mortuary and Ted found a satanic ritual site in the hills that matched the children's description. The owners were found not guilty. According to Ted Gunderson, the prosecuting attorney was not interested in the evidence that corroborated the children's story. Not surprisingly, many prominent individuals were implicated by the children who never faced trial or serious investigation.

In 1982 Johnny Gosch was kidnapped one morning while delivering newspapers in his hometown of West De Moines, Iowa. The local police chief refused to report Johnny as missing and instead reported him as a runaway even though there were witnesses of the kidnapping. While the police did little, Johnny's mom, Noreen, never gave up. She hired private detectives and went on talk shows with pictures of Johnny.

Noreen's investigations eventually linked the local police chief with the Oklahoma Child Sex Ring. In a radio interview, Noreen said that Johnny showed up one day at her house in 1997, fifteen years after his kidnapping. He stayed for only a few hours. He told her that he had been auctioned off as a sex slave and had eventually escaped. He said that the people involved were so powerful that he must remain in hiding for the rest of his life. He said if he went public, both he and his mother would end up dead.

These are just symptoms of a bigger problem. America has abandoned God and His law. James Madison, America’s fourth President warned that our Republican government rests and depends upon people who governed themselves according to the Ten Commandments; he stated “We have staked the future of all our political institutions upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, and to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.”

President John Quincy Adams went a step further then President Madison. President Adam stated in an address to the military in 1798 that our form of government is inadequate to be controlled by an immoral Godless people; he said “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion…Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

What has our abandonment of God and His law brought to our nation? Has it brought liberation, safety, security, prosperity? No!! The United States now has the highest rate of social breakdown in the industrial world including: The highest divorce rate, the highest murder rate, the highest violent crime rate, the highest illegitimacy rate, and the highest rate of sexually transmitted diseases. The U.S. Is also the largest debtor nation in the world with no hope of ever paying off its debt.

Our abandonment of God and His law has not brought anything good, rather it is brining the judgment of almighty God upon the nation. This is not my opinion! It is what the Bible clearly states. Most people believe that America isn't mentioned in the Bible, this is not the case. Other than Israel, the Bible says more about America than any other nation.

You see, Vreeland was placed in a Canadian prison on credit card fraud in December of 2000 and remained their till after 911. He said he was framed because of his knowledge of 911. He was later acquitted.

• The investigative team examined very little of the steel or other physical evidence from the towers because it was rushed off to recyclers.
• The investigative team failed to review the manner of the collapse as evidenced in video tapes and photographs as a method determining the cause of the collapse.
  
• The investigative team and the commision  failed to interview eyewitnesses of the collapse.
